Add AC Repair and Service to Your Spring To-Do List

April 28, 2016

Spring is finally here. We’re pretty sure your to-do list already feels overly long, but we have a couple things that might save you some headaches and keep you comfy in the months to come. The weather is going to start heating up in Newton and the last thing you want is to discover is that you’re in need of AC repair. Going through this quick checklist now might save you from sweating this summer.

  1. Look at Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost every one of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often forgotten. If your air filter is a mess, your system will have to work harder to keep you comfy. This costs you more money and causes more stress on the system which decreases the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are another piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, remove the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers removed, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and switch them after they've dried.
  2. Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units clear of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can impact your system and cause it to lower its efficiency.
  3. Set Up Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we enter the picture to help you work on that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it operating at peak efficiency. Spring is the ideal time to set up your tune-up so any problems or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a minimal investment into the life of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.

We can't help you with the entirety of your spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to make sure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to arrange your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 641-316-9803.
